If we follow where Jazz takes us it would be through New Orleans to Chicago, New York, and Kansas City.

Joe Oliver was one of the most popular bands in the 1920's. The band was from New Orleans to begin with, Oliver as a kid played the trombone but than changed to the cornet. In 1917 while Oliver was playing for Edward "Kid" Ory the most famous trombonist gave Oliver the name of the "King" so than he was known as Joe "King" Oliver. Oliver joined Bill Johnsons band in Chicago and soon after assumed himself the leader of the band. in 1922 Oliver asked the young cornet player Louis Armstrong to play as there second cornet player, he quickly became popular in "King" Oliver's band. Edward "Kid" Ory

Kid Ory was the first greatest trombone player of the 1920's. He's New Orleans band was formed of King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Dobbs, Sidney Bechet, and others the band was formed in 1912. Kid Ory brought the sound of jazz music from New Orleans to the city of Los Angeles. Ory became the first most popular African American Jazz band to be recorded in New Orleans in 1922. Ory played in Chicago with King Oliver's band in 1925 until 1927. Kid Ory went on the rest of he's life having a succesful career, until he retired in 1966.

Louis rose to fame in the 1920's he's mentor being Joe "King" Oliver. In 1919 Oliver left Louis and went to Chicago leaving Louis playing in the greatest jazz band in New Orleans. In 1921 Oliver called Louis telling him to join him down in Chicago to play in the Chicago's Lincoln Gardens. Louis didn't really want to go because New Orleans was he's home but he had too much respect for Oliver so he went. In 1924 Louis's second wife convinced him to break off of Olivers band so he went and played for Fletcher Hernderson in New York. Louis Armstrong had a long good career, Louis changed the way of how people dirict jazz music. Louis was the first "Super star" of jazz music
